What I love about weddings...

Ok, ok, so I'm biased. But when you think about it, there aren't too many people that can say they are passionate about their jobs. If you can do what you love for a living...well, you know the rest! My "job" isn't really a job at all. It's so much fun. ONE of my favorite interactions with my couples is when I first sit them down for a consultation. Typically, they are freshly engaged and their faces just scream love and excitement. I love that excitement! I thrive on it. When we start discussing different things like their colors and the overall feel of the reception, the bride-to-be is always glowing. And when we start discussing the liquor, the groom glows! (It's funny because it's true!)

Once we move into the weeks before the wedding, the couple is always so relaxed and grateful for the help of a wedding planner. They tell me how they couldn't have done it without me and my team. I cannot tell you how of a compliment that is. If I have a calm bride and groom the week before their nuptials...then I know I've done well!

The day of the wedding rolls around, and my adrenaline is at an all-time high. Typically I've been up for about 48 hours straight just running over every linen, every centerpiece, and every light placement in my head. I arrive at the reception site hours before anyone else is typically awake. I begin to hang things, position things, then change it all around to be sure it is just right. I check on the bride, the groom, and both families to make sure everyone is doing alright. Regardless of whether or not a couple has asked us to help out with the ceremony, I always make an appearance because I want to see the beautiful bride on her big day. I see the sparkle in her eye as her gown is being fluffed and her hair is being perfected.

I've seen so many wedding movies that I can't remember which movie this quote is from...but much like the character that spoke it, when the bride makes her grand entrance and everyone turns to look at her, I look at the groom. I absolutely LOVE the look on his face when he sees his new bride. Some of them cry, some of them look serious as could be, some of them laugh nervously, but all of them have the same "I can't believe how beautiful she looks, and she is all mine" look on their faces. ((((LIGHT BULB!!! It's from 27 Dresses! I knew I'd remember!)))

During the wedding when I'm running around like a crazy person, making sure that all the typical obstacles that present themselves stay hidden, I'll get tapped on the shoulder by someone in the bridal party, or a family member, or another guest at the wedding. They tell me how nicely everything has come together and ask for our card so they can recommend us to their friends/family. I love how wedding guests are having such a great time. I love the feeling of celebration. I love when I see guests taking pictures of our work. I love when I overhear guests talking amongst themselves about how they've never been to a wedding like this one. I love feeling like I served my purpose.

After the wedding when I'm collecting myself (and soaking my feet), no matter how exhausted and achy I am, I love the feeling of "job" satisfaction.

After the couple's honeymoon, I love calling them to see how it went, and hearing all the fabulous stories about their trip. I love it even more when they call ME to tell me how it went.

Most of all, I love when couples stay in touch with me even after the whole process is done. I love how they feel like FAMILY to me.

So while weddings are the hardest work of any of the events that I do, they are also the most rewarding. No matter what this industry throws at me, I will always be involved in weddings in some way, shape, or form. I cannot promise that I will do everything 100% perfectly 100% of the time...no one is perfect, and I am not a perfect planner. There is always room to learn, and I am always humbled by every learning experience. I can, however promise that I will pour my heart and soul into your wedding or event. I truly care about each and every client like they are my family. I want nothing more than to please my clients and each and every guest at each Lavish Event. The behind-the-scenes blood, sweat, and tears (literally) that I invest in each event will hopefully speak for itself when you can see the final product. I love what I do.
